- The River Skerne Restoration Project
An urban section of the River Skerne was selected as a demonstration site for environmentally sensitive restoration techniques, to create sustainable improvements.
Kent Design was a member of the working group design team working closely with the Environment Agency, Darlington Borough Council, The River Restoration Centre, NWL and the local community. During this project we developed a strong working relationship with the planning, development and landscape departments. The project received national and international funding including Heritage Lottery and EU Life, in addition to partnership funding from the agencies listed above. Our specific involvement was to organise the design and implementation of the ‘hard' and ‘soft' landscaping. We also produced a public exhibition for consultation and an educational Interpretation Board on site in the form of an annotated aerial perspective.
